The Story Behind the Studio

Studio JiaChing takes its name from Jia, the Chinese word for home, and the family name of its founder, Andrea Ching.

Growing up in Hong Kong and later building a life and career in London has shaped Andrea's approach to interiors. Her work brings together Eastern ideas of balance, flow and harmony with a distinctly Western appreciation of architecture, craftsmanship and individual expression.

Andrea brings an experienced and practical eye to the design process, combining creative instinct with an understanding of buildings, space, budget and delivery. Before founding Studio JiaChing, Andrea was a director of London interior design practice Milward Teverini, where she led the design and delivery of high-end residential projects for private clients across London. Selected work from this period forms part of the portfolio presented here.

Her approach is personal rather than prescribed. She considers how people actually live - how they move through a home, where the eye comes to rest, how natural light changes throughout the day, and how colour, texture and proportion can create a sense of ease.

The result is interiors that feel calm and assured, layered rather than overly styled, and individual to the people who live in them.

Andrea is fluent in English and Cantonese and works with clients in London, Surrey and internationally.

Our Way of Thinking

A well-designed home should do more than look beautiful. It should feel balanced, intuitive and comfortable to live in.

At Studio JiaChing, ideas of balance, flow and harmony are woven naturally into the design process. There is an awareness of how spaces connect, how light moves through a room, where furniture sits in relation to architecture, and how materials, colour and texture affect the way a space feels.

These ideas have roots in Andrea's Chinese heritage and an instinctive understanding of principles associated with Feng Shui, but they are interpreted in a contemporary and practical way. Rather than following a rigid set of rules, the aim is to create a home with a natural sense of equilibrium - somewhere that supports both everyday life and a sense of wellbeing.

Every element is considered as part of the whole, creating interiors that feel composed without feeling contrived.
